Razor Power Rider 360 Electric Tricycle Review

September 25, 2014 By Kristian

Full Price: $179.99

Top Speed: 9 mph

Age Range: 8 years+

Use Per Charge: up to 40 minutes

Charge Time: 12 hours

Why Am I Reviewing the Razor Power Rider 360?

My 2 main reasons for reviewing the Razor Power Rider 360 are that it is new for 2014 and it is very different to anything else that I have reviewed on this site so far.

There are plenty of kids electric Go-Karts, Cars and Dirt Bikes already on the market, but the Power Rider is a pretty unique new concept in battery powered fun!

Rather than the 2 or 4 standard wheels found on regular electric bikes and Karts, the Power Rider 360 is fitted with a single pneumatic wheel at the font and 2 castor wheels at the rear. It is this configuration that creates the unique spinning and drifting action that kids can enjoy whilst using the Power Rider 360.

The other great thing to note about the Razor Power Rider 360 is that it is quite a bit cheaper than many of the other electric ride on toys manufactured by the Razor company.

Introducing the Razor Power Rider 360 Electric Tricycle

The Razor Power Rider 360 Electric Tricycle is an excellent new electric ride toy that allows kids to enjoy the thrill of riding around the neighbourhood whilst spinning and drifting at the same time.

Although it battery charging time (12 hours) could be quicker, it is very well priced and offers a unique driving experience.

It is designed for kids aged 8+, has a maximum user weight limit of 120 lbs, and has a top speed of 9 miles per hour.

The top speed is pretty standard for electric vehicles designed for this age group and it is certainly fast enough to provide enough excitement for most kids, without their parents having to stress out too much about their safety. Although 9 mph is not a particularly fast speed, I would always advise you to ensure that your child wears a safety helmet when driving the Power Ride 360. It doesn’t have to be a racing-car style helmet – a bike or scooter helmet will be more than sufficient to protect your child’s head.

I love this product, but there is 1 drawback – the battery charging time is about 12 hours (The Razor Drifter Kart and the Razor Go Kart by comparison can be re-charged in just 4-6 hours!). Of course, you have to weigh this up against the fact that the Power Ride 360 is about half the price of those other 2 products and those other vehicles have exceptionally quick recharge times.

The usage time per charge is stated by Razor to be up to 40 minutes. Amazon have the usage time per charge as 30 minutes, but the feedback from most owners is that Razor are correct and 40 minutes per use is achievable.

If your child “needs” to use the Power Rider 360 more than once per day, you could always buy an extra set of batteries.

The Razor Power Rider 360’s Best Features

You can check out the full list of specifications below, but some of the Razor Power Rider 360’s best features include:

  • Top Speed of 9 mph
  • Simple Push Button Throttle
  • Hand Operated Lever Brake
  • Spinning / Drifting Action

#1 Top Speed of 9 mph

As you can see from the videos towards the bottom of this page, the top speed of 9 mph is fast enough to provide a very enjoyable ride. It is not as fast as the Razor Go Kart or Drifter Kart (both 12 mph), but this is not designed to be a racing vehicle, but instead is more of a casual and fun product.

#2 Simple Push Button Throttle

Some of the more expensive electric vehicles for kids come with variable speed throttles for extra control. However, the Power Rider is fitted with a very simple “push button” throttle that is either “full on” or “full off”. Obviously, given that the top speed is just 9 mph, there isn’t a great deal of variety that one could hope for in terms of speed anyway, but this is something to be aware of when deciding whether or not to buy this particular toy.

I suppose for some younger kids, the simplicity of the simple push throttle might actually be a good thing since they won’t have to worry about twisting the throttle to get anywhere.

#3 Hand Operated Lever Brake

The Power Rider 360 comes with the sort of hand operated lever bike that you would normally find on a push bike or motorcycle. So, if your child already knows how to ride a bike, they will have absolutely no problems operating the hand brake on this machine.

#4 Spinning / Drifting Action

This is the main reason for choosing the Power Rider 360 over and above other battery powered vehicles. There are other standard style Go-Karts that probably provided a slightly better level of performance if that is all that you are looking for. However, if your child wants to experience the added thrill of spinning around and drifting, then this is where the Power Rider excels. I am not aware of any other product on the market at the moment that has this functionality at such a great price.

Watch the Razor Power Rider 360 in Action!

It doesn’t matter how much you read about the Razor Power Rider 360, the only good way to find out whether or not it is the right toy for your child is to actually see it in action.
