Razor E Prime 3 Electric Scooter Review

November 10, 2022 By Kristian

The Razor E Prime Electric Scooters

Razor have been making electric scooters that are designed to be ridden by kids for many years now. These kids’ electric scooters were not, however, suitable for use by adults, unless you were quite small, lightweight, and didn’t mind riding along at a rather slow 10-12 mph on a brightly colored red or pink electric scooter that looked very much like a kids’ toy.

Razor now offers an electric scooter that is very much designed with adults in mind, although it is also suitable for use by older kids.

The Razor E Prime 3 electric scooter is much faster than their kids’ scooters, they are capable of longer ride times between battery charges, and they look more like the sort of scooter that a self-respecting adult could ride on without being laughed at!

Within this post, I will be taking a closer look at the Razor E Prime 3’s features.

I hope that my Razor E Prime 3 Electric Scooter Review will help you to decide whether or not it is suitable for you or your older child.

Razor E Prime 3 – The Main Features

#1 Rider Age & Weight Limits

The maximum rider weight for the Razor E Prime 3 electric scooter is 220lbs (100 kgs).

The recommended minimum rider age for the E Prime 3 electric scooter is 18 years, making it an electric scooter that is genuinely designed for use by adults.

Whilst the maximum weight limit is something that should definitely be adhered to, the minimum age limit is only a recommendation. Naturally, you’re probably not going to buy one of these scooters for a 5-year old, but I see no reason why a mature and sensible 16-year old shouldn’t be able to ride one perfectly safely. You know yourself and your own kid’s abilities and limitations better than anyone else and age is not the only indication.

#2 Scooter Weight

The Razor E Prime 3 comes with an aluminium frame, which makes it very lightweight (24.2 pounds) and super easy to control.

#3 Wheels & Tires

The E Prime 3 scooter has 2 8-inch tires. There is an airless rear wheel, but the front wheel is pneumatic, which helps it to negotiate small bumps and imperfections on the ground while riding it to ensure a more comfortable ride.

#4 Motor & Top Speed

The Razor E Prime 3 scooter is powered by high-torque, 250W hub drive motor.

The 250W motor on the E Prime 3 is more powerful than the motor on the standard E Prime scooter. This is what makes the E Prime 3 scooter capable of faster speeds.

The maximum speed of the E Prime 3 is 18 mph, which is significantly faster than the 10mph or so that you could get out of something like the Razor E100 electric scooter.

#5 Battery Run Time / Range

In addition to a higher top speed, the Razor E Prime 3 electric scooter has an extended range before needing to be recharged.

The E Prime 3 should get about 15 miles out of a single charge, which makes it far more suitable for local trips and commuting than the previous models.

#6 Throttle Mechanism

The 250W hub-driven motor on the E Prime 3 scooter is activated through the use of a thumb-activated throttle system. It has variable speed control and a paddle lever. It is very simple to use.

#7 Braking System

The braking system is comprised of a thumb-activated lever and use of the rear fender.

#8 Folding Mechanism

The Razor E Prime 3 electric scooter can be folded for easy transportation and compact storage.

#9 Security & Safe Storage

Since the E Prime 3 scooter is genuinely designed for use by adults and could be used for commuting and making short trips to the store, it comes with a security lock point.

This takes the form of a ring built into the scooter frame that can be used to loop a chain lock through when you need to keep the scooter safe while you go about your business.

The Razor E Prime 3 Scooter in Action

No-one in their right mind would buy an electric scooter without first seeing it in action.
